GroverHQ Camera Viewer
Effective 30 September 2026 · Document version 3
HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA
- Saved camera passwords are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being written to the TV's storage, inside the app's private data area.
- Passwords are never written to logs. The released app contains no diagnostic logging and no network tracing.
- The app has no server component and sends no data to us, so there is no central store of your camera details that could be breached.
HOW THE APP USES THE NETWORK
- It connects only to cameras and recorders that you choose.
- The optional network scan sends short connection probes only to addresses on your own local network.
- To protect your cameras from lockouts, the app stops after a wrong password instead of retrying repeatedly, and it does not retry a device that has refused an ONVIF login.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Most cameras send video and login details over your local network without encryption (this is how RTSP and ONVIF normally work). Anyone on the same network could potentially observe that traffic. To stay safe:
- Use a private network you trust; keep cameras off guest Wi-Fi.
- Change the default username and password on every camera and recorder.
- Ask your camera provider to give your cameras fixed IP addresses and to keep their firmware up to date.
- Do not expose your cameras to the internet.
